‘Vijaya Ashram’

Home for Children of Street, Single Parents, and Orphanage.

Kalyan is the big junction on the central railway. So many children’s you will find on the Kalyan station and near that area. These children’s are mainly have single parent or these are orphan. They don’t have any hope in their life but we work with them and we do counseling of them. Most of the children have been changed and they started their school again. But when we are working with them us special feel that they will need some kind of shelter (home) for staying, because day time most of the time they stay with us and they are secure in this place but night time they sleep on the railway platform it is not safe for them. They get addict of the drugs and other alcoholic substances, sometimes they been sexually abused by others. When they sleep on platform police also arrest them and put them in the remand home. That’s why “Way True Life” started to send these children to other boarding school but every year we go and ask for the place in boarding but now they also reject to take kids in boarding school they said it is all ready booked, there is no place for street children etc.

Despite spending a lot of time exploring boarding schools/hostels in and around Mumbai for these children to go to, “Way True Life” did not meet with much success. So we feel that we can start our own home for street children.

Proposed venture

The new initiative proposed by “Way True Life” is to provide a home for children of single parents. Initially 15-20 children in the age group 5 and above years will be identified to be housed here. For this home we are prefer the own place to start the home because on rent basis there are some disadvantage

• Society doesn’t except the street children (they said they are dirty, from bad family background etc.)
• Most of the people doesn’t want to give place on rent basis for the street children
• Rent are so high for that premises if you calculate rent of 5 to 6 years it will be same price of the purchasing cost
• Before we had night centre but it was on rent basis we didn’t afford rent after few years we have to stop that we don’t want do same mistake again.
• If we take place I rent basis there will be always some interfere and interruption from land lord.

But if we take own place it will be very helpful

Without any worry about rent we can run home effectively, there won’t be any restriction or any interruption. It will be available in reasonable cost. May not no in future will get place or not because in Mumbai there is shortage for the land and it will be costly.

Challenge

These estimates cover the main expected costs involved in setting up and running of the Street+ orphan Children Home in near Kalyan. In this we are taking approximately 15 to 20 children and 4 staff.

We are really appreciate if you will do contribution towards this project it will be very helpful. We are really grateful to all of you that you give help to the children. We also want these street, orphan children also can study and get bright future like other children.
